Small old town cafe charm with very good food but slow to be served. A couple others around us got their meals faster than us, so we'll be returning to give them another shot. The 3 egg omelete (byo) was really good and a good value. The coffee wasn't to bad either. Omelete was not overcooked, and or cooked to fast as so many cafes do banging out plates. Happy to have a good breakfast place so close to where we live.
(4)Lesley G.
They have Yummy omelettes. Nice waitresses and Friendly environment. I get the spinach avocado Swiss cheese omelette and fresh fruit.
(4)Maria M.
Excellent food and great service. Pancakes were giant- larger than a Bruce Springsteen album. The french toast was fantastic (teenager) and the salsa and huevos rancheros were outstanding.
(5)D C.
My eating at every restaurant in sc continues. Got a burger and onion rings. Have to say the onion rings taste good. Burger is ok. Mushroom Swiss burger need more mushrooms than few of them. Service is good but the place needs a to be cleaned up a bit

Prepare yourself for a long wait if you come to this place. It took 45 minutes from the time we ordered breakfast to the time it was delivered to our table. We ordered two Surfer Lite plates (2 eggs, bacon and toast) and a short stack of pancakes. It wasn't busy so I'm not sure why it took so long to be served but the cooks didn't seem to be in any hurry to cook the breakfast. This was my first and last visit to this place.
(2)T B.
There's 1 waitress and the owner which have brought the quality of this cafe way down as well as the quality of the food. Especially since the owner has raised the prices. This use to be one of my favorite places to eat, I will never eat there again.
(1)David K.
We recently had breakfast at the Sunrise Cafe in San Clemente. I had poached eggs, bacon and coffee. My wife had a 'chef's special' omelet (chef chose the ingredients). Both were served within 10 minutes and both breakfasts looked and tasted, well, great. While talking with waitress Jan we discovered the owner (Chen) only uses the freshest ingredients. Service was fast/efficient, food was hot and delicious. We'll be back.
(5)Georgia R.
BEST BREAKFAST!!! In fact everything I have ever had here was off the charts!!! I love the Acai bowl!!! They make fantastic granola and the waitress knows what I want as soon as she sees me!!! I love this place!
(5)Amy S.
With so many breakfast places in San Clemente, it's hard to really stand out. Sunrise Cafe offers decent food at a decent price. I really like their outdoor seating and the servers are always nice and efficient. One of the major reasons we end up here is because we don't have to deal with a long wait (Antoines) or parking issues (Del Mar). It's a solid choice for people on the north side of town. Try the breakfast burrito, it's my go-to and delicious.
(3)Brian G.
I've rated this two stars for my personal preferences. Some people will like the Sunrise cafe for it's large portions, and greasy breakfast fare. I can't go along with this measure of breakfast as huge and average tasting, I need better. The service was not great, and the furniture outside is standard lawn chairs. I guess it's not bad, but there is better in San Clemente.
(2)Mark P.
We wanted something simple that was not Dennys or IHOP. We have driven past this place many times as it is not a fancy looking place. The setting was of that like an old diner right down to the bar stools. The food was simple and prepared to all of my request right down to well done on the bacon. The coffee kept coming and the service was attentive. I will be going back for breakfast when I am in San Clemente
(4)Dave L.
Fell into this place on a drive south. Amazing what they have done with San Clemente, it sure has changed! This place however looks like it was left behind. All the staff are on their toes, as Asian Mamma kicks some major butt! Our order got set aside somehow, and she noticed us sitting there longer than necessary. Breakfast was three yells later and it was good! Another dive found and we will return should we blow by here again. Thank you Sunrise Cafe and our friendly Mamma! Moi
(4)Brad M.
It was... Just under acceptable. The orange juice was extra ordinarily sweet, the coke was flat and my tuna melt tasted really sour. My hashbrowns were cold. For $30 for my wife and I, I wasn't too excited about the place. It may have been a one time hit and miss though. Considering the other reviews, it was a definite let down for us. Don't bother. Dennys or IHOP has better food. Blech. NOTE: This review was written months ago but never posted. Just saw the draft. I think we went in August.
(1)Tracie B.
horrible horrible horrible food... the staff is super friendly but the food is probably the worst I've ever eaten..... I've tried this place multiple times and every time it's just disgusting, got the machaca and my husband got the chicken fried steak and eggs, machaca was literally some roast beef lunch meat tossed with scrambled eggs and some green bell pepper, my husbands chicken fried steak was some frozen patty concoction that he couldn't even eat (I was actually snacking off of his because mine was inedible) I feel terrible giving a bad review, I never do, but seriously you're going to charge people for this??
(1)Rhett H.
You can't beat this friendly, homestyle breakfast nook for a great meal. If you are lucky, they'll have some macadamia nuts on hand to include in a banana-nut pancake delight. Top it off by dining al fresco and let the happiness begin. It's affordable, great atmosphere, and includes things for the gut-sticking to the heart-healthy. Try it out, you won't be disappointed.
(5)Lucian F.
Ended up here after getting horrible service @ Beach Garden Cafe. Good food, GREAT service, and extensive menu. The pancakes were lacking, but everything else - eggs, meat, potatoes, breads - was great, and worth the trip.
(4)Joseph T.
This place is decent for a cheap breakfast and is dog friendly. The service can be a bit slow at times. I have been multiple times and the food is always consistently decent but nothing here really knocks your socks off. My GF an I generally get eggs, hash browns, and toast. The chorizo was not that great. All and all its just a so so place.
(3)Alan C.
Great place for a breakfast. Love the omelette. Pretty much get what you expect. Good service and friendly.
(4)Angela D.
Pretty good breakfast. Really fantastic service and clean facilities. Ask for chilaquiles (not on the menu) and it bumps it to 4 stars!
(3)KC C.
Fairly good breakfast food at a fair price. Nothing special, but I do think their breakfast burrito is pretty solid.
(3)Patrick S.
My service was efficient and friendly. The hash omelette was excellent.hash browns are crisp on outside soft on the inside.good job sunrise cafe!
(5)M B.
Delicious! I had the nut pancakes, and husband had a meat lovers omelette. Real eggs, real cheese and server kept filling our drinks. Hash browns were so fresh, and tasted like potatoes and not oil.Perfect all around.
(5)Marie S.
Great food! Chen and all staff are so kind and warm. We are regulars there, wouldn't go anywhere else for the breakfast.. And not to mention the teriyaki chicken! Yumm:)
(5)Kevin J.
We stopped here for lunch and was very surprised, my wife ordered huevos rancheros and I had the cheeseburger. The rancheros were authentic and served hot, the cheeseburger was really original and delicious. They have outside seating and you can watch the traffic as you wait for your meal.
(4)Noelle O.
We have been waiting here for our food for at least 45 minutes. There are empty tables so it's not like they are super busy. The food better be good.....
(1)Julie D.
My great aunt and I had spent the morning shopping in San Clemente and were ready for some lunch. We spied this place, saw that it had outdoor seating and decided to give it a try. I was very happy we did! They do offer table service, just take a seat. My aunt has a hard time hearing and can be crotchety at times. Our server was very sweet and so patient with her. Thank you for that! Our food was delicious was quickly served. It is not a fancy place, so don't expect that, just come for the great food and great service and you will be pleased.
(4)Rebecca F.
We have been here a couple times, and today wasn't the best experience. The servers seem rushed and will walk while talking to you (taking your order and checking on you...if at all). The server was so rushed, she only got one set of silverware instead of looking to see what we had. We had to get the other set because we couldn't get their attention for a second set. The food was delicious but lacks seasoning.
(3)Jeremy L.
Just had a great breakfast at the Sunrise Cafe! Juan's burrito was fantastic and had a great talk with the owner she was very friendly. You should definitely come by and check out this great place. Also try the hash browns too!!!!!
(5)Kristin H.
Great little local diner...driving from Los Angeles to San Diego...stopped for a break and saw a ton of people here when we drove by. Friendly service, good breakfast food served quickly and fresh. Nice pit stop
(4)Rosy K.
The waitresses were nice but we waited 40-45 minutes after we ordered for our food. The food was...ok. Not something I would pay for again. Price was decent except: $6 for a very small bowl of fruit! :(
(3)Caroline L.
Definitely not as nice as some of the other popular breakfast places. This is a simple, dive-y breakfast joint at the corner of the street. Sat outside to soak in some sun and was happy that service didn't slow down because of it. Coffee was refilled quite often. Got the jalapeno eggs benedict (basically an eggs benedict w/ grilled jalapenos on top). Thought the hollandaise sauce could've been a bit more flavorful but not bad. The home fries it came with was crispy and good. French toast was good. It didn't change my life but at these prices, I didn't expect a gourmet meal. It was simple and did the job.
(4)Don G.
I love breakfast and this place is a great place to grab some decent hot breakfast. The servers are friendly and attentive. The food for me is good. The sausage breakfast was alright. The eggs benedict is ok, The local ambience and feel is what makes this place great.
(3)EVELYN O.
Excellent breakfast omelette! My fav spot when I visit San Clemente
(4)Bubba L.
I come here once or twice a week for my breakfast the food is excellent service is awesome the staff are friendly the cook is fantastic I recommend this restaurant to all my friends in town or from out of town, I liked.
(5)Eric T.
I have been eating breakfast here for years and never once has this place failed me. The service is attentive and the food is always fresh. Drop in for an early morning Denver Omelet or an afternoon BLT. Either meal, give it a try.
(4)Joy M.
This place was really disappointing. I came here hoping to find a nice local diner and was really bummed out. Service was OK and the atmosphere was also OK but the food tasted like it had all come from a can/bag/freezer and it was very underwhelming.
(2)Jennifer D.
Stopped for breakfast here on our road trip. They were completely overwhelmed and couldn't keep up with getting people's food out on time. Well intentioned but need better management. Some people left because it was taking so long. My husband got his food and finished before my food came. I canceled my order and swung by Chipotle. No bueno!
(1)Kt G.
Been to the Sunrise Cafe 3 times over the past month. Each time, I've been very impressed with the level of service by the staff. Recommend the Chicken Fried Steak, best I've had in South County. The Chili Verde is also great.
(5)Mike M.
Good enough food. Great prices. Friendly and quick service, ample parking in the rear. Had the corn beef hash w 2 eggs over easy, biscuits and gravy, and has browns. $9.
(4)Terry H.
Friendly staff. Food is sub par. Tomatoes were not ripe, hard to eat and had no flavor. Gravy was grainy and had an odd flavor and the bisquits were heavy. Typically I keep these types of reviews to myself, but it was such a blah experience for my $15. Seriously, if you offer tomatoes in place of fried potatoes, please make them ripe, tasty and fresh. The bacon was tasty, but was made a few hours ago and set on a plate. Biscuits and gravy were heavy and grainy. I love this comfort food and it's very hard to screw up. Disappointed. I will try this place again, but will go for the higher reviewed pancakes and benedict eggs. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive. Never had to wave them down for coffee. Now if the ownership would pay as much attention to quality of product, this place would be a 5 place for sure. There are a lot of people eating here, so it's possible.
(2)Lisa P.
Best Huevos Rancheros I have ever had!!! And I am some what of an expert on the subject... It's my go to breakfast choice. Corn Tortillas were amazing. Home fries flavored to perfection. I'll be back.
(5)Jennifer W.
What a charming, friendly, and delicious stop on Camino Real! (Not to mention the fact that they have a parking lot behind the restaurant which is a rare find in beach towns) The staff was great, the service was quick and friendly, and the mushroom Swiss burger was AWESOME! (So was the freshly made coleslaw - and I don't usually like coleslaw)
(5)Nicole V.
Small, corner restaurant. Outdoor seating as well as inside. Super friendly waitress. Great food. Traditional breakfast stuff. Big servings that are totally shareable. Not disappointed at all.
(4)Miranda G.
Came here because I was starving. Food turned out to be pretty great most of it the usual diner food but there is also a healthy menu and vegetarian options. I ordered the poached eggs and rye toast along with a side of avocado and it was all very good. They kept my coffee cup full. Overall great service.
(4)Rod H.
The food is great, the service good, although seems the owner is Asian and burns inscents, and I found it very disturbing to sit and try to enjoy my morning meal with the gagging effects of the smoldering sticks. I am very sensitive to odd smells, my nose was running when I left. The lingering smell messed with the good aroma of fresh coffee brewing, and food smell being prepared nearby, love the smell of bacon being prepared in the AM. I am not against one religious beliefs, but I should not have to try to enjoy my AM meal with that overwhelming burning of inscent.
(2)Heather M.
Best sunday breakfast place ever! All of the employees are so sweet and nice! If you want something amazing try the sunrise special :)
(5)Aaron F.
Food is ok, service is slow and not particularly friendly. In general part of the charm of your neighborhood diner is the staff and service. Totally lacking at this San Clemente establishment.
(2)Robert W.
So tired of some of the over entitled yelpers on here. You can only be disappointed if you over inflate your expectations based on what other over zealous yelpers write. So try doing it this way.... If you are going to a small beach town local breakfast joint, then expect the good with the bad. Yes , the decor is dated. You know why? Because it is. Get up on a Sunday morning before the rush, and enjoy the beautiful beach weather while strolling down El Camino Real. 3 Egg omelettes with fresh juice and a stack of home made pancakes. Portions are large and ingredients are all fresh. No bs here, just good home style breakfast cooking. No frils, no fancey digs...just good simple food with friendly service. What more could you expect at a small family style business in a small beach town?
(5)Lindsey L.
Sadly, I cannot recommend this place. My friends and I walked past this place and thought it looked delicious! But, for starters the only waitress in the whole restaurant was overwhelmed with only our party of 5 and another party of 2 in the entire place. If she couldn't handle 7 customers, I'm sure glad we didn't go during peak hours. She made us wait, was rude, and seemed too stressed out. She couldn't even remember to bring us straws! When our food came it looked great, but my club sandwich was odd tasting, the chicken in my friends enchilada was undercooked, and worst of all, my other friends simple cheeseburger gave her food poisoning!!!!!! Very bad, I don't recommend this place. Was a big disappointment. It's scary not knowing what is going on in that kitchen. Skip sunrise cafe and go somewhere else or you're risking food poisoning for yourself!
(1)Stephanie B.
Was there this morning horrible service very rude. Just one of the things that happened there was a man asked for lemon for his water and the waitress said no we already put orange in it! Really?Come on! When asked what was in a fruit bowel she said read the menu! Just all around horrible experience and mostly service. I will spend my money elsewhere where im not worried if im going to get my head ripped off for asking for any service.
(3)Chuck A.
Home cooking with great people. I try to stop here every chance I get during my travels from San Diego to Orange County.
(5)Roby L.
Now that Chen, Cafe Calypso owner, has taken over, the place has gotten good again. The last owners ran it into the ground but Chen has put some heart and soul into the place and the food has improved a thousand percent. She's still working on the menu improvements and prettying up the place. It's already really good so be sure to stop in and enjoy!
(5)Melisa C.
Great place for breakfast. Excellent service and very tasty food.
(5)Thierry M.
Sunrise is a wonderful breakfast spot. Very friendly and attentive staff, great prices, and, best of all, great food. The food tastes fresh, homemade, and cooked well. I love the breakfast burrito with the very tasty red sauce poured on top. This place is a keeper on the breakfast rotation.
(5)Dylan B.
Sunrise Cafe is a great place to grab a great breakfast in San Clemente. The owner, Chen, is very accommodating, and often serves coffee refills to patrons herself. She successfully grew another local restaurant, Calypso Cafe, and has been doing a lot to turn this place into a success in 2013. The food is excellent. And available at fair prices. I'm a huge sucker for their breakfast egg sandwich, and I think the coffee is very good here too. The bacon here is excellent; crisp and very tasty. They do a great job with the eggs too, and the bagels are always fresh and moist. The wait staff is very good, but the place can get really crowded, so at times it takes awhile to get the check and depart. That's really the only downside here -- and it happens because so many people have discovered the great food and great value to be had here. I've seen the crowds grow steadily over the past few month, and with good reason. The location is nice too. Right off El Camino Real, a quarter-mile walk from Del Mar and downtown San Clemente. Plenty of parking on the street, as well as in the back. And the decor inside is very cool. It feels like stepping back in time into a 1950s diner -- without the over-the-top contrivance of a Ruby's. This is really a great little breakfast spot in San Clemente. For visitors (lots of them come in) and locals alike. I've met some very cool people in here too. I'd recommend eating here.
(4)M. C.
Step in the door and you'll have the feeling of having stepped into a 1950's diner; red, pleather cushion seats and aluminum leg stools. White plates sit on open shelving that line the wall. Stacked high, like Legos, paper cartons hold eggs by the dozens. Cooks clanking old pots work to prepare food which is placed under hanging heat lamps on a counter to keep the food warm. Friendly servers carry warm food plates to anticipating customers. Walking through the dining area is a bit confusing and a contrast from the opening scene. The chairs are Asian-looking in design and the dining room walls lack art work. It's as if you've entered a 1950's diner and transitioned to a Chinese restaurant dining room. I'll begin with the most important part of a good breakfast...the coffee. I found it to be typical of diner coffee; burnt, coffee-flavored water, which took me by surprise because the coffee at their sister restaurant is quite flavorful. My scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly and the bacon was good. The home-fries were rather 'interesting', they were seasoned and had good flavor, however, they tasted as if they had been sitting and lacked that 'crispy' texture we all love. The one redeeming item was the pancake; fluffy and delicious. The server was very friendly and attentive. Bottom line is that this is your typical, greasy-spoon type place; definitely good hangover food for the price.
(2)Jacky K.
I love this place. The ladies do a great job, and we so enjoy the company and the food. They have a bit of everything, and well worth going. Service is good, quick and food is SUPER tasty
(4)Tiffany C.
Well, if you want slow to seat and slow to serve you got the right place!! I'll never go back
(1)Marie M.
I live within walking distance of this restaurant and have been dining here off and on for the past 5 years. The food is nothing special, but if all you want is simple, comfort food fare, it works. My main point of contention is with the service: Within the past year or so, service has really declined. The past two times I've eaten there have been deplorable - the most recent time was this past Sunday: The restaurant was busy but there were several tables still open. It looked like there were 2-3 servers working and one busboy. Apparently, that's not enough staff for a Sunday morning. My drink order was taken and delivered right away, but after being told by the server that she'd be right back to take my food order, it was 15 minutes before I saw her again. The coffee cups are small, which is unfortunate, because trying to get a refill takes an act of God. The servers sporadically help each other out: I saw another server going to her tables with a coffee pot, but before I could catch her eye for a refill, she was gone. When my server finally came to check on me, I asked for a refill and she gave me the dreaded line "I'll be right back." After waiting for 10 more minutes for her to return with the pot of coffee (during which time I saw her bussing empty tables instead of checking on the needs of customers still present) I got up and poured myself a cup. Having worked in the restaurant industry for 10 years, I know the demands of a server, especially during busy hours. However, there's no excuse of such egregious inattention. Either the owner needs to hire more busboy/girls so that the servers can spend more time on the guests, or the servers need to prioritize their time better. I like to support businesses within my neighborhood, but I'll now be dining elsewhere.
(2)Jan M.
Perfect for what it is. A little spot to get nice friendly service and simple breakfast food. I live in San Clemente so I'll go back.
(4)Marty A.
Came here for breakfast on my way to San Diego. Its nothing mind blowing. Standard breakfast fair (frozen hashbrowns...etc). I did enjoy my food and service. Definitely better than my local Denny's. It wasn't good enough to be a "must stop" so I'm likely to never return again. They did a good job tho.
(3)katharine C.
This place was good. Not the BEST breakfast I've ever had but it filled the void at the time. Waitress was on her 1st day and didn't know the menu, but that was understandable. She was still VERY friendly and quick with the service. Friendly place with ok food.
(3)Lone D.
New owners, same as Cafe Calypso in town. Place is cleaned up and they appear to be working on making it much better than the run down hole in the wall breakfast joint that it was. They say they are fixing up the lunch menu as well. SC needs a cheap bfast place. Chile Sauce on the burrito was excellent. I'll keep going back as long as they keep making it better, support your local restuarants!
(4)Angela B.
The eggs benedict is highly unimpressive.
(1)Jennifer B.
I've been looking a lot for a diner-like place. A place where the sugar is in giant glass containers on the table and the only music they play is 50's rock-n-roll. I think this is as close as I've come to a privately owned local diner in Southern Orange County since moving here. We ordered two big 3-egg omelets that came with toast and obligatory hash-browns. There's nothing better than an overstuffed plate of breakfast food on a weekend morning. We loaded our omelets with gyro meat, avocados, cream cheese, and onions and enjoyed the substitution of biscuits and gravy instead of toast. The OJ was fresh and the coffee was hot. To ridicule the decor of this place, would be to completely ignore their efforts of trying to be a 50's style diner while within a corner store front. They're cute and they're trying and regardless of how bare the walls are or how plain the tables were, the food is delicious and the service is fast and friendly. It satisfied my need for some good greasy diner food, that's for sure.
(4)Matt W.
Went there for breakfast. Good food, fast, friendly service.
(4)Jo M.
Great, fast breakfast. Highly recommend the substantial breakfast sandwich and their many omelettes. Service was prompt and friendly, prices reasonable.
(4)Dave B.
Horrible Decor: None Environment: Homey, if that is what you call an empty shack Food: Terrible! IHOP or Denny's is much better, let alone all the other places to choose from in San Clemente. If this place is the epitome of beach town food, then you eat here or Mcdonalds for breakfast or you are still drunk while eating here. I ate here because of the reviews, there are few enough to believe they were given by employees, or friends of employees, or the workers. One of the worst places to eat in San Clemente!
(1)Eric B.
The best morning-after eatery in town, when you're not yet done slumming it. Good food at a fair price, served by smiling staff - special orders always accepted. Tons of omelettes on the menu, and a serviceable eggs benedict. The burger, however, is not the best item. Best Part: Sitting outside in table and chairs that are on a serious tilt.
(4)Pippa T.
Great food, friendly service and reminds my boyfriend and I of 'Eggs and Things' in Hawaii. We loooooove this place and the eggs benedict was PERFECT!!!!!!!!! The portion are pretty good - too big for me but my boyfriend was happy to eat what I couldn't! They also have eggs benedict with jalapenos on top ... I can't wait to go back and try that!! Great price for exceptional service and yummy breakfast!!!
(5)Jennifer W.
Have you ever had one of those days where you wake up and the only thing that will make you human is a giant serving of potatoes, a robust omelette, toast, and a superb glass of orange juice??? If you must, bring your sunglasses and post yourself up on the "patio"- which is really just a collection of tables along the sidewalk. What this place lacks in a lavish setting, the comfort food more than makes up for. Not to mention the orange juice. There were many a weekend mornings that I would have not survived had it not been for a giant glass of that sweet, sunshine in a glass. I never settled on what dish was my favorite, but according to the level of the, ... uh... hang over... I rotated through the various favorites. A little on the greasy side, but not so much that I couldn't enjoy it. The staff and patrons always seem to be happy and sweet. Don't pass up the OJ!!
(4)Caitlin C.
The food was delicious and the staff was super friendly. We went on a Sunday around 11am, and it was really crowded but the food came out relatively quickly and the staff always had a smile on their face. Highly recommend for a nice, simple & yummy breakfast! :)
(5)Carlos S.
i love there sunrise special, its a great cheap breakfast that will fill you up :)
(5)Al G.
Great value and delicious food. New owner really cares and you can taste the quality. At last count like 40 different egg dishes. I'll go again. Great place to get the day started. Service was ok not great but it was breakfast rush.
(4)Melinda Q.
Breakfast wet burrito was okay but nothing to get excited over. The french toast was yummy. The service was just okay but the food came out fast.
(3)Stephanie S.
Great place at a decent price. I had the eggs benedict with sausage, and my husband went with the biscuits and gravy. Both were delicious and very filling. Service was efficient and friendly. Some of the tables outside slant really badly, but I think they're simply contouring to the shape of the sidewalk. My only marginal complaint is the lemon in my iced tea smelled a little funny, almost as if they (the lemons) are commonly stored next to something swimming in brine... possibly pickles.
(4)Shawna C.
Food is wonderful, service is great. We love this place!
(4)Dana R.
Have been here before, must have had a hangover...cuz I remember it being better...Service is good, waitresses are very nice and attentive. Coffee was BAD and they only offer non dairy creamer, mom had pancakes and they were served with margarine, yuck...I had veggie benedict, hollandaise was straight from a packet, tasted like chicken broth. Greasy spoon is a good description, good price and good service, less than good food...but not awful...
(2)brian r.
This is the epitome of beach town breakfast spots. There's nothing better than sitting outside, reading the paper and people watching. What more can you ask for?
(5)Christina A.
Would have been better off going to Denny's. We were scooted out to an outside table by a gentleman lacking any friendliness, sat in a tilted table, drinks came fast enough but for a small little diner, I can't understand why it took so long for someone to come take our order. Once we finally did order, we waited almost an hour for our food which was boring and cold. Avocado was wilted, food was bland, biscuits and gravy... ugh! No thanks. The one thing I'll give em is the coffee was delicious, but don't expect your waitress to come ask you if you'd like cream! Had to go inside twice to ask for silverware, then salsa. Cheap meal though, $44 bucks for the 4 of us. I guess you get what you pay for.
(2)Corinne F.
I have to update my last post because I had one of my worst service experiences here ever. It's always just been my boyfriend I who grab breakfast but my parents were in town so we took them to Sunrise. It was more crowded than usual but we were still seated relatively quickly. Took us 15 minutes to get our drink order in. The busser brought silverware out and there was leftover egg on one of the forks. It took about 30 minutes for our food to come out but it was all brought to our table at different times. First the pancakes came out which only two of us had on our order. We waited another 10 minutes for the rest of the tables food to come out only to find out the order was still not complete. We were short toast and the bacon that comes with my meal. The worst part about it was there was bacon on my plate at one point (I could tell by the bacon crumbs left on the plate) but they took it off and served it to another table. While waiting for my bacon to come out and the side of toast, the table next to us who showed up 20 minutes after us had their meals come out with bacon. Really how long does it take to make a side of toast? If you jack my bacon please bring it out before I'm done eating and don't serve it to another table. Finally I went inside to ask where the rest of our meal was. I stood awkwardly at the front while no one acknowledged me. Finally I got someone's attention and they pulled the bacon and toast sitting under the heat lamp. Lesson of this experience, don't eat at Sunrise when they are busy.

Jalapeño Eggs Benedict is great. The kitchen gets the eggs right most of the time. The waitresses are friendly and prompt. We almost always sit outside. On Saturdays and Sundays it can get very busy.

For the price of the omelet I had, I was expecting a lot more in terms of both amount and flavor. Definitely too bland and average quality. Maybe I made the wrong choice as my friend's food did look better but definitely way too overpriced for what I got.

fine breakfast! sat outside the first time, early in the morning not as much foot traffic that time of the day. We had already grabbed a coffee from 7/11, they had no problem with us bringing that to our table. friendly local's type place! We ended up coming here a couple times.

Great little diner. Coffee, meat lovers omelet, hash browns and sausage gravy over a biscuit. Super, super, and 7 minutes from seated to served. My son had the same, nearly ate the ceramic off the plate. My wife ordered the breakfast tacos with cheese covered hash browns and gravy covered biscuit. Only 1 "hiccup", easy on the cilantro... otherwise a fantastic meal. The service was very attentive, bathroom clean and check was affordable. .. thank you

We have visited this breakfast spot over the years. Food is always fresh and served hot. This place can fill up with locals and out of towners on the weekend. My only complaint, my son ordered the steak and eggs menu price $11.95 but the waitress let us know it would be $13.95. Hmm maybe they should make note on the menu about the price increases and not when you order. When the front door is open the traffic on El Camino Real is loud.
